Confessions of a Hairstylist: Kristie

Kristie is a talented member of the Element Hair family who brings her creativity and heart to every style she creates and every client she helps.

Kristie found her passion for hairstyling during a work placement out of high school in 2008, where she worked as a Youth Apprentice for Lori Oles-Flarhety, a stylist and salon owner and found her passion for the industry. Eager to further her craft and gain more knowledge and experience, she moved to Kitchener in 2010 to attend the Hairstyling/Cosmetology and Esthetics program at Marvel Beauty School.

Kristie joined the Element Hair team in September 2015 and has since become an integral part of what makes Element Hair so good at what we do.

When asked what her favourite part about her job is, she said, “The creativity. I love the feeling I get from making a client feel wonderful about their new look.”

Kristie’s drive and passion for her work is palpable in every piece of art she creates with a client’s hair but she is no stranger to hard work.

“My biggest challenge is overcoming my fear of not being able to please everyone. I do everything in my power to make my clients feel incredible and confident, but I need to know that I won’t be able to please everyone who sits in my chair. But when it comes down to it, I just have to believe in my abilities and own every look I create.”

And without fail, Kristie always turns to her favourite KMS California product line to help her give each client the perfect look. She rarely uses the same product on each client, however, because each client’s hair is different and has a unique set of needs. She never categorizes her clients because she feels that as soon as you get comfortable with a style you are no longer thinking out of the box and delivering your best to your client as an individual. Plus, she loves a challenge!

Kristie’s dreams are to one day become a salon owner so she can share her talent and passion with a team, but until then she is working hard to provide her son with everything he needs in life and more.
