Best Beauty Looks: The 2016 Oscars

Best Beauty Looks- The 2016 Oscars

The Oscars are a time to celebrate the best in cinema but for our team at Element Hair, it is a time to take in some truly stunning beauty and hair looks. Read on for our top 3 picks for the best beauty and hair looks of the evening that were truly Oscar worthy.

Rooney Mara - Best Beauty Looks - The 2016 Oscars

Rooney Mara is no stranger to the ethereal, gothic trend happening in beauty and fashion right now. So it came as no surprise to see the fair skinned beauty rock a delicate white gown which was a welcome contrast to her rich dark hair colour. Makeup artist Katie Lee’s goal was to use makeup to bring all these stunning elements together:

“I wanted to bridge the gap between her dramatic dark hair colour and her pale skin, and use shades of that would make her eyes pop. I chose a grey-violet tone on the eyes and a deep Bordeaux, brick-red lip that could kick up the blue of her eye colour.”

Our personal favourite part of Rooney’s look? Her three-pronged slick backed updo. Our stylists cannot wait to recreate this look for a lucky client.

Alicia Vikander - Best Beauty Looks - The 2016 Oscars

When you win an Oscar the images of that moment you accept it on stage last a lifetime. One of our favourite parts of this moment is when a young starlet wins this prestigious award for the first time and has nailed her look for that special moment. First time supporting actress winner, Alicia Vikander did just that.

Alicia’s bronzed, glowing skin looked stunning with her canary yellow gown and her beauty game perfectly complimented this princess moment. Her makeup was left natural and her hair was pulled back into the ever popular half up bun which felt youthful and playful and complimented her gown expertly.

Daisy Ridley - Best Beauty Looks - The 2016 Oscars

The best hair of the night – by far – had to be Daisy Ridley with her architectural masterpiece of an updo. Hairstylist Robert Vetica drew inspiration for her perfect knot from her dress:

“We played off the feeling of her silvery Chanel couture dress, which had a 1920s flapper vibe. I didn’t want to be literal with it – it required something really edgy and a tiny bit futuristic.”
