Recently, some of our team attended a five day Goldwell Master Color Technician seminar where learned new skills and techniques for achieving gorgeous colour for our clients. We passed our exam and received our beloved Goldwell pin. Our team is looking forward to the up and coming Elumenate seminar that specializes in Goldwell Elumen education.

Over the past few weeks, we have been doing a lot of hair colouring to lighten deep, dark winter hair for spring — with colours from denim to ronze to balayage trending, we have had plenty of variety! We love giving our clients the hair transformation of their dreams, from the brightest blonde to the deepest reds to colours completely customized to suit our client’s vision. And thanks to our favourite hair colour Goldwell, we are always able to deliver on our promise to give our clients the highest quality colour. While Goldwell Elumen is a high-quality hair dye that minimizes damage to the hair follicle, it is still important to properly care for your hair to ensure your colour lasts as long as possible. To ensure your new colour stays vibrant, here are a few expert tips to ensure are part of your routine.

1. Use a maintenance product. Goldwell offers Soft Color which is an at-home semi-permanent hair dye mousse that can quickly refresh your hair colour or correct common effects such as brassiness or fading. Each mousse contains panthenol and wheat protein to ensure you hair stays strong and resilient between colours.

2. Wash your hair the right way. In general, you should avoid washing your hair more than a few times a week to keep your scalp from becoming too dry and stripping the natural oils from your hair. This is especially true for coloured hair as it is more prone to damage. Make sure you are using a colour-friendly and moisture-rich shampoo and conditioner, like our Peppermint and Hempseed Cleansing Conditioner and Colour Conserve Conditioner to keep your hair healthy and colour vibrant.

3. Watch your water. Avoid washing your hair for 2-4 days after colouring as this well give the dye optimum time to set. In addition, when you are not washing your hair, considering using a shower cap to keep your hair dry as water still has the ability to strip colour from your hair. If you notice that your colour is fading faster than normal, you may want to consider purchasing a filter for your shower head to filter out damaging minerals for longer-lasting colour.

4. Protect it from heat. Any time you use heat on your hair, use a heat protectant. This is especially true with coloured hair as it can dry out from overheating faster than uncoloured hair. In addition, with warm weather heading our way it is a good idea to use a UV protectant to keep your hair from getting sun-bleached or overly brassy.
