At Element Hair, we are always interested in what is trending in the world of hair, nails and beauty. We make it our priority to attend trade shows, seminars and keep our eye out during fashion month in order to keep ourselves and our clients ahead of the curve. Back in the fall, after spring fashion month came to a close we revealed some key trends coming in 2016. In this latest blog post, we are going to explore a few more trends to look out for in 2016 to get you ready.
One of the most noticeable makeup trends that we saw across almost all major labels during 2016 Spring Fashion Month was a bold lip. Overall, makeup was left simple and natural to let the lips do the talking in bright orange, pink, crimson and oxblood tones. However, the most favoured by far had to be the classic red lip applied with perfect precision.
This year, emerging trending hairstyles were not complicated or intricate. Our favourite was the spin on last year’s extremely popular relaxed braid – “The Twist” – sleek, fun and easy to create. Simply divide your regular ponytail in half and twist the sections until you reach the tip, securing it with a thin band.
And we mean everything. From glitter lips, eyeshadows, parts, hair to even beards – everything you can think of will be covered in fairy dust. Expect to see this continue all throughout 2016 as the go-to pop of fun for makeup artists and hair stylists alike. If you are thinking about trying this look at home our advice is to go the “less is more” route and rock a lightly dusted pout.
We know some of you may be thinking, “Oh, right, a French Manicure, how out of the box, how trendy.” Well, we have news for you – the French Manicure of 2016 is anything but simplistic. It can be angular, with punchy coloured tips (think oxblood and black), with negative space and matte finishes. Element Hair clients are also in luck because our resident nail gurus, Charlotte and Wilhemina are out of this world at creating these out of the box French Manicures.
Ornate headbands, barrettes and combs will be everywhere this year featuring everything from beads, stones and bold fabric, to beautiful flowers. Keeping with the trend of hair being overall, simplistic and easy – these hair ornaments won’t be part of a complicated up-do but rather just slipped onto strands or tucked haphazardly into a top knot.
From jagged micro bangs to long wispy fringes – bangs are the go-to way to change up your look this year. Nervous about taking the plunge? Don’t try this at home! Head to your salon and have a consultation with your hairdresser. Professionals can help you find a bang length and look that works best for your face shape.
Which of these trends do you think you will rock in 2016? Thinking of taking the plunge and rocking bangs? Want a fun twist on a classic French manicure? Give us a call (519-746-1212) and book in with one of our talented hairdressers and nail artists.
